A security drill was successfully conducted on 7th May 2025 at DAV Nandraj Public School, Bariatu under the guidance of Principal Dr. Ravi Prakash Tiwary, with the objective of preparing students and staff to respond effectively during any unforeseen emergency situation.

The drill began promptly at 10:30 a.m. with the sounding of the alarm. All students, teachers, and non-teaching staff responded immediately and evacuated the school building in an organized and disciplined manner. They assembled at designated safe zones, following all safety protocols.

This was not a fire drill, but rather a security preparedness exercise aimed at strengthening response mechanisms for any unexpected or potentially dangerous situations within the school premises.

As part of the preparedness exercise, specific responsibilities were assigned to teachers and students, including roles such as floor in-charges, class monitors, group leaders, and helpers for younger children. These roles were supervised and monitored by senior teachers to ensure smooth and timely execution.

First aid and rescue procedures were also practiced during the drill. A simulated scenario involving mock injuries helped staff and student volunteers demonstrate the use of basic first aid skills and emergency support, reinforcing the school’s readiness to manage crises.

After the drill, a feedback session was conducted where both teachers and students shared their experiences. Most expressed increased confidence and awareness about emergency protocols. Teachers stressed the importance of regular drills to instill calmness and readiness among students.

Some challenges faced and areas for improvement included:

Difficulty in hearing instructions clearly in certain areas of the building.

Slight delays in assisting very young students.

A need for clearer signage and visual guides during evacuations.

Overall, the drill was a valuable learning experience and was executed with seriousness and discipline. It reflected the school’s strong commitment to safety, preparedness, and continuous improvement in handling emergency situations.
