Inauguration of Two-Day Sports Festival at D.A.V. Nandraj Public School, Bariatu on National Sports Day
Ranchi, August 29.
On the occasion of National Sports Day, a grand two-day Inter-School Sports Carnival 2025 was inaugurated at D.A.V. Nandraj Public School, Bariatu.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Hon’ble Minister of the Jharkhand Government, Dr. Shilpi Neha Tirkey as the Chief Guest. The Guest of Honour was Mr. Alok Kumar Dubey, National President of PASWA. The event was also attended by Dr. Ravi Prakash Tiwary, Principal, D.A.V. Nandraj Public School, Bariatu; educationist Mr. L.R. Saini; Mr. S.L. Gupta, President, Arya Gyan Prachar Samiti; Mrs. Sushila Gupta, Life Patron of Arya Samaj Ranchi; Mr. Prem Prakash Arya, School President; Mr. Sanjay Jain, Secretary of the Carnival; Mr. Ashok Bhatia, Member, AGPS; Mr. Rajendra Arya, Treasurer, Arya Gyan Prachar Samiti; Mrs. Jhumpa Singh, Principal, D.A.V. Modern School Lalpur; Mr. Deepak Kumar, Principal, Mahatma Narayan Das Grover D.A.V. Public School, Bundu; Mr. Ajay Arya, Chief Patron of the ceremony; Mr. Sanjay Poddar and Mr. Sunil Gupta, Members of AGPS, and many other distinguished guests.
Chief Guest Dr. Shilpi Neha Tirkey paid tribute to hockey wizard Major Dhyan Chand by hoisting the flag and releasing balloons to mark the beginning of the sports festival.
In her address, Dr. Shilpi Neha Tirkey said, “I can truly feel the spirit of sportsmanship here. Children’s potential is limitless. These talented children have already started to showcase their abilities. Parents are also motivating their children, and the joint effort of society is extremely important.” She emphasized that sports not only enhance physical ability but also instill discipline, confidence, and team spirit. She further assured that the State Government is committed to promoting sports among children and youth.
On this occasion, Mr. Alok Kumar Dubey, National President of PASWA and General Secretary of Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee, said, “Along with studies, sports hold an equally important place today. We must draw inspiration from the life of Major Dhyan Chand, the wizard of hockey. Sports teach us competition, concentration, humility, and mutual love.” He also released and inaugurated the book “Jeevan ke Moolya” (Values of Life).
The host Principal, Dr. Ravi Prakash Tiwary, extended a warm welcome to all guests, parents, the 600 participating players from various D.A.V. schools, and nearly 2000 student spectators. He encouraged the participants to play with true sportsmanship and perform their best.
Educationist Mr. L.R. Saini also motivated the players, stating that National Sports Day reminds us of the legendary Major Dhyan Chand. He added that sports are the most powerful medium to unite society and guide youth in a positive direction. He expressed that this sports carnival at D.A.V. Nandraj Public School will certainly provide new energy and inspiration to the future players of Jharkhand.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of various schools. A large number of parents, teachers, senior citizen home members, and sports enthusiasts were present. The two-day sports carnival includes athletics, football, cricket, volleyball, and several other competitions. The winners will be awarded tomorrow.
