On Saturday, October 4, 2025, D.A.V. Nandraj Public School, Bariatu, organized a âGood Parentingâ workshop for the parents and children of Bal Vatika classes â from Pre-Nursery to Class I. Around 200 parents and children participated enthusiastically in the interactive session.
The program began with parents sharing their thoughts and experiences about the challenges they face in nurturing and guiding their children. This was followed by delightful performances by the children, including a âLove for Parentsâ dance, recitation of Gita shlokas, and a poem titled âChandanpur Chandan.â
Addressing the gathering, Principal Dr. Ravi Prakash Tiwary said,
âWe have just celebrated the festival of Dussehra, during which many of us observed fasting. Today, I invite you all to take a new kind of fast â a âMobile Fastâ. When you are with your children, try to completely avoid mobile phones. Use them only after they sleep. For one day each week, respond only to necessary calls. Continue this for 21 days and observe the positive change in your family and children. It may be difficult, but it is not impossible.â
Dr. Tiwary further encouraged parents to observe a âFruit Dayâ once a week, where the whole family consumes only fruits, milk, and vegetables for better health. He emphasized that children learn by observing their parents, so it is important to lead by example.
He added,
âWe all wish to see our children become like Ram, Krishna, Einstein, or Kalpana Chawla, but we must also strive to become like Dasharath, Kaushalya, or the guiding figures behind them. These children are the true wealth of our nation, and nurturing them is our responsibility.â
Dr. Tiwary advised parents to develop patience, learn to listen calmly, play with their children, and be present when they engage with screens. He reminded them that children see their parents as the most knowledgeable and loving people in the world.
He concluded by saying,
âSpend quality time with your children every day. Ask them with a smile what they learned or saw today. Speak positively, eat healthy, and create a joyful home environment. Never resolve family disagreements in front of themâdo so privately. You will soon find the values of Ram and Sita blossoming in your own home. Our dreams can be fulfilled through our children if we help them shine.â
The program concluded with a message of inspiration and a collective commitment toward positive parenting
