Grover DAV Nandraj Public School, Bariatu solemnly observed the death anniversary of Mahatma Narayan Das Grover, former Director of DAV institutions, on 6 February 2026, paying heartfelt tribute to his invaluable contribution to the field of education.

Mahatma N. D. Grover is fondly remembered as a guiding light in the educational landscape of Eastern India. After retiring from DAV College, Hisar (Haryana), he came to Ranchi, which became his karmabhoomi. Throughout his lifetime, he played a pivotal role in establishing nearly 200 educational institutions across Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Nepal, and Madhya Pradesh.

He had a deep emotional attachment to Khunti and often expressed his wish to be reborn in a tribal family to serve the people there. His commitment to social service was reflected in the words “This life is for Khunti”, which he had inscribed on his hand.

He regularly organized eye-donation camps in the region, particularly during the winter season. Even today, many of his philanthropic initiatives continue through individuals inspired by his vision and dedication.

Owing to his tireless efforts and lifelong association with education, he was affectionately known as a “Walking School.” Following the havan, Principal Dr. Ravi Prakash Tiwary addressed the morning assembly and shared personal memories of Mahatma Grover, recalling his student days when Grover Sahib visited Dhanbad.

He highlighted Grover Sahib’s energetic personality, keen interest in interacting with students, and unwavering transparency in work as qualities worthy of emulation. He also recalled Grover Sahib’s belief that children who do not pluck flowers grow into responsible and sensitive individuals. Describing his life, Dr. Tiwary said it was a remarkable journey from humble beginnings to greatness.

Teachers of the school also paid their tributes by addressing the assembly. The morning assembly was conducted entirely in Sanskrit, during which students eloquently expressed their thoughts and reverence, making the occasion both meaningful and culturally enriching.
