A two-day Continuous Professional Development Programme on Strengthening Assessment and Evaluation Practices began today, Saturday, 5th July 2025, at DAV Nandraj Public School. Today marked Day 1 of this insightful training, which saw active participation from a total of 64 teachers representing different schools.

The event started with an inspiring introduction message by Dr. Ravi Prakash Tiwary, Principal, DAV Nandraj Public School. He emphasized the importance of continuous professional training and explained why it is essential for teachers to regularly update themselves to keep pace with evolving educational practices and the needs of modern learners.

The day’s sessions were led by experienced resource persons, Dr. (Capt.) Sumit Kaur and Mrs. Mamta Kumari, who focused on the critical role of assessment and evaluation in classroom teaching. Special emphasis was placed on strategies for assessing students effectively at every stage of learning.

Aligned with the vision of the New Education Policy (NEP 2020), the training highlighted the need for a comprehensive and continuous evaluation system that fosters critical thinking, creativity, and the holistic development of students, moving beyond rote-based assessments.

Overall, Day 1 provided valuable insights and practical tools to help teachers strengthen their classroom assessment practices and improve the overall teaching-learning experience. The training will continue tomorrow with further interactive sessions and discussions.
