Jharkhand’s Rich Culture Showcased Through Its Traditional Cuisines at DAV Nandraj Public School

Ranchi, May 23 – On the fourth day of the Summer Camp at DAV Nandraj Public School, Bariatu, a vibrant display of Jharkhand’s cultural richness was brought to life through its traditional cuisines. A total of 115 students from Classes VI to VIII actively participated in the program.

The day began with students learning how to introduce themselves in the regional Nagpuri/Sadri language. They were also introduced to various aspects of tribal traditions, cultural practices, and the mouth-watering local delicacies of Jharkhand. The teachers demonstrated the preparation of traditional dishes such as Dhuskas, Gulgulas, Chilka Roti, Mandua Roti, Pitha, and Bamboo Pickle. They explained the ingredients and methods of preparation in the Sadri language, giving students a hands-on cultural learning experience. The children not only learned with great enthusiasm but also enjoyed tasting these traditional dishes.

Adding to the festive atmosphere, both students and teachers sang and danced to the sweet Nagpuri folk song “Laal Paad Saadi” with joyful energy.

To conclude the day’s activities, students were treated to the enjoyable and adventurous film “The Jungle Book.”

The respected Principal of the school, Mr. Ravi Prakash Tiwary, was present with the students and encouraged them to learn about and embrace their traditional food heritage. He emphasized that these native dishes are examples of balanced diets that contribute to physical well-being. He also advised students to cherish and follow the values of Indian culture and traditions in their lives. Through his inspiring words, he blessed and motivated the students to take pride in their cultural roots.
