DAV Nandraj Public School, Bariatu organized International Yoga Day on 21st June 2024. It was celebrated by the students and teachers at the school premises with great enthusiasm. All the students practised yoga during the assembly.
Yoga competition was organised for the students of class I to VIII where they demonstrated various yoga asanas. Warm up exercises were taken and all the students performed sitting and standing asana, importance of these were explained simultaneously.
The Principal, Dr. Ravi Prakash Tiwary encouraged students to practice regular yoga to remain fit and improve concentration. He said, “Yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfilment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature.”
All the teaching and non-teaching staff actively participated in the event. The Physical Education Teachers explained to the students that the brown leaves symbolize the Earth element, the green leaves symbolize the Nature, blue symbolizes the Water element, brightness symbolizes the Fire element and the Sun symbolize the source of energy and inspiration.
The logo reflects harmony and peace for humanity, which is the essence of Yoga. The students performed Pranayama, tadasana, vrikshasana, and other asanas. Regular practice of yoga will surely help our students achieve a better life, physically, mentally and spiritually as well. The winners of the yoga competition were as follow:
